There was and continues to be a large demand for those jobs.à However, Mexican-Americans were challenged by the stereotyping in that there was a public attitude that Mexican-Americans were all illegal and were all taking jobs from Americans.à The progressive era reformers sought to recruit members on the merits of their goals and thus much of their influence came from lectures, publications, exposing corruption and reforms from the bottom up.à ... Like African Americans however, Mexican Americans have struggled to establish their rightful place in US society. The challenge was more pronounced at the turn of the century than it is today. Mexican Americans, like African Americans were struggling against a tide of marginalization in education, economics and in mainstream society in general. Many Mexican Americans however, do not have legal status and are unable to demand equal protection of the law and equal opportunities. African Americans however, are for the most part, citizens of America and may insist on equal protection of the law and equal opportunities. Even so, African Americans have been able to seek welfare protection in terms of economic marginalization. This was and remains a major challenge for illegal Mexican Americans who eventually end up taking on labor for excessively low wages as a means of surviving in the US and even then it has always been an improvement on the lives they left behind in Mexico (Vasquez). The purpose of the control group is to act as a measuring stick to gauge the other subjects test scores to see if the hypothesis is correct. The Book of Enoch :: essays research papers
The Book of Enoch We first learn of Enoch in Genesis 5 but it leaves us with questions. Hebrews 11 has the answers and Jude quotes Enoch! How did Jude come to know the words of Enoch? They are not in the Bible. The answer of course, is The Book of Enoch. A book which is actually quoted not only by Jude, but also James the natural brother of Jesus. The quote in (Jude 14-15) & (1 Enoch 1:9) is as follows: "In the seventh (generation) from Adam Enoch also prophesied these things, saying: 'Behold, the Lord came with his holy myriads, to execute judgment on all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners spoke against him'." What is the Book of Enoch and where did it come from? Enoch was the grandfather of Noah. The Book of Enoch chapter 68:1 "And after that my grandfather Enoch gave me all the secrets in the book and in the parables which had been given to him, and he put them together for me in the words of the book of the parables." This makes it possible for the Book to have survived the flood as its not too hard to accept that Noah would have taken his Great Grandfathers writings with him onto the ark. The Book of Enoch was extant centuries before the birth of Christ and yet is considered by many to be more Christian in its theology than Jewish. It was considered scripture by many early Christians. The earliest literature of the so-called "Church Fathers" is filled with references to this mysterious book. The early second century "Epistle of Barnabus" makes much use of the Book of Enoch. Second and Third Century "Church Fathers" like Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Origin and Clement of Alexandria all make use of the Book of Enoch. Tertullian (160-230 C.E) even called the Book of Enoch "Holy Scripture". The Ethiopic Church even added the Book of Enoch to its official canon. It was widely known and read the first three centuries after Christ. This and many other books became discredited after the Council of Laodicea. And being under ban of the authorities, afterwards it gradually passed out of circulation. At about the time of the Protestant Reformation, there came to be a renewed interest in the Book of Enoch which had long since been lost to the modern world.

Alexander Pushkin ââ¬ÅI loved youââ¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â (1829) Essay
The poem by an outstanding Russian poet Alexander Pushkin ââ¬Å"I loved youâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ (1829) is a pure representation of the poetââ¬â¢s warm feelings toward a woman who did not replied on his close attention to her beauty and nature (Pushkin). It is a confession of the poet who lives in the atmosphere of reveries about this girl. Thus, the poem under analysis is not joyful or sad in representation, but holds a sum of Pushkinââ¬â¢s remarks on the womanââ¬â¢s beauty. First of all, one should notice the form in which the poem is executed. It is meant here that Pushkin describes his feelings as if he recognizes that the girl described will never be his anymore. Instead, the love of the persona is outlined as longing for happiness of the object of his love. Second, by ââ¬Å"I do not want to sadden you againâ⬠the persona shows a respectful attitude toward the love that passed (Pushkin). Tangibility and sincerity of the feelings are highlighted in the strokes below. A fragile soul of the poet longs for making happiness in love real for his heroine. Third, the persona refuses selfishness or a somehow continued struggle for the girlââ¬â¢s love, as he wishes her: ââ¬Å"I pray God grant another love you soâ⬠(Pushkin). This makes the overall poem look splendid and full of the highest vibes of a man who falls deeply in love with a woman. To conclude, Pushkin managed to reach out the depths of a readerââ¬â¢s consciousness by using a well-polished and concise representation of his own sincere, warm, and mild feelings toward a woman. Education and Richard Wright
During last week, I read 2 excerpts from Richard Wright and Malcolm Xââ¬â¢ autobiographical writing. The interesting part is the authors both got self- educated by reading books while they were in tough situations because of racism. Although the way they accessed to education was different, they had a strong feeling that word could lift them up, and fight for their people after reading books. Ralph Ellison once said ââ¬Å"If the word has the potency to revive and make us free, it has also the power to blind, imprison, and destroy. The similar quote is also right from Bel Kaufman, he said ââ¬Å"Education is not a product: mark, diploma, job, money in that order; it is a process, a never ending one. â⬠Words are the symbol human beings use to express what they want to say. It can be used in speaking and writing. Using words are the only thing people can do in order to communicate. Therefore when it comes to those who donââ¬â¢t have chance to learn in school, words will open the new whole world to them. That makes people escape from their ignorance, and enter to the world of education. Moreover, if people can use words fluently, it will be effective. Words do not have any physical power to kill, but mental power which can last in a long period of time. The quote of Ralph Elision is right, and it can apply in Richard Wright and Malcolm Xââ¬â¢ situation. The criticism of people to Mencken makes Richard Wright curious, and brings him to books. The desire in writing letters, and the competition with his inmates bring Malcolm X to prisonââ¬â¢s library to get dictionary and book. They both are brought to the new world, and find out their true feelings in reading books. With Richard, he thinks words can use as weapon to fight against unequal events in the world, reveal the truth of history, especially racism. On the other hand, Malcolm X tries to learn as many words as he can in order to fully understand the book, and gain more knowledge, which can help him gain respect of people around him. In the other quote, human come to education is not only for making money, it also helps people get the ideas how things work. Knowledge itself is the most important thing to make people realize the value of things, not just for making profit. Furthermore, knowledge is like the endless ocean, once people get into it, a lot of new things open to them. Thus, with Richard Wright and Malcolm X, whom dropped out of school, education is not a process to make money; it is the one that helps them understand what they lack of. As a writer, Richard Wright would think a lot about what needs to write. His mind would never end thinking to make more ideas, and give all he had into his books. Malcolm X was the same, he spent almost 15 hours per day to read, even though he was pretty successful at the time. Those two quotes are great philosophies. I learn a lot more from the quotes and through Richard Wright and Malcolm Xââ¬â¢ self- educations. Thatââ¬â¢s good for me when I read them, and my mind opens wider.
